Patent details
A Wind-Powered Wireless Charging System for Electric Vehicles is disclosed. The system integrates an aerodynamic wind energy harvesting module comprising vertical-axis and horizontal-axis micro-wind turbines and piezoelectric harvesters; a power conditioning and energy storage unit with MPPT control, DC-DC conversion, and hybrid LiFePO4 battery and supercapacitor buffer storage; a wireless power transfer (WPT) module operating at 85 kHz resonant frequency with embedded road-surface transmitter coil arrays and foreign object and living object protection systems; a vehicle-side receiver module with misalignment-tolerant coil design and V2I communication capability; an intelligent power management controller for vehicle detection, coil activation, and fault management; and a cloud-connected optimization platform for real-time monitoring, predictive maintenance, and automated billing. The system supports both static and quasi-dynamic wireless charging of electric vehicles at vehicle speeds up to 30 km/h, operates in a grid-independent standalone mode, and harvests vehicular wake wind energy as a renewable distributed generation source, addressing critical limitations in EV charging infrastructure and enabling sustainable, contactless EV charging without dedicated grid connection.
